Welcome to the 4th annual Ready Made RC FPV Fest!
September 7th-10th, 2017
Come hang out with fellow FPV'ers!
Spectators are FREE and welcome!
RMRC FPV Fest is held at the Willard Ohio Airport, a full scale paved runway that is temporarily closed to full-scale aircraft and reserved for this special FPV event.
Only 75 Pilot Slots available! The basic cost of $35 includes a free t-shirt (supplied at the show) and a reserved 15'x15' space for an easy-up. After covering the cost of the shirts, the remaining funds (around $22) will be donated to the Willard Hope Center, a youth activity center located in Willard. We are doing this as a service and as a thank you to our customers, and we want to have the funds go to a charitable organization to help benefit the community that is offering this space and assisting us.
2017 promotional video coming soon!
Location of Event:
Willard Municipal Airport - Willard, OH 44890
Note: This airport will be closed to full-scale aviation for the duration of the event. If you wish to fly your full-scale aircraft to FPV Fest, you will need to arrive well before the event on Wednesday and depart after the airport has been re-opened on Sunday afternoon. Please let us know in advance if you are planning on doing this so that we can plan accordingly and avoid potential issues.
If you are planning on camping at the airport, please know that the venue does not have any hookups available, including electricity and water. Port-a-johns will be on site, however. We will have a single area in the center of the camping area for a camp fire. Airport management asks that you do not start your own camp fires in their grass. If you have a generator, please bring it and share with your fellow pilots. Alcohol is permitted, but please be responsible.
We have scheduled for a local food truck to be available during the peak hours throughout the event. Of course, you are also welcome to grill out at your camping location and share with your fellow pilots, especially RMRC crew. Other available options are shown in the map below.

Flight Information: Subject to change
Free Flight - This was the reason we started FPV Fest and we are excited to get some air time along with you!
Frequencies - After positive feedback from last years event, we will continue to allow free flight pilots to use 900MHz, 1.3 GHz, and 2.3-2.4 GHz to be used while multirotor racing is taking place. 5.8GHz is limited to 200mw and Race Band at all times. We suggest that 5.8GHz pilots bring both RHCP and LHCP antennas. The use of 5.8GHz will NOT be allowed during race time for free flight. However, free flight pilots are welcome to use other frequencies while multirotor races are going on as long as there is no interference physically or with RF. Please note that we will not be allowing ANY illegal or international frequencies at FPV Fest. Legal US amateur band frequencies or FCC approved transmitters only. To allow 900MHz Video, RC control will only be allowed on 2.4GHz and 433MHz. (TBS Crossfire is allowed, but you will also need the 900 tag)
Frequency Etiquette - Before you turn on your transmitter, you MUST have the designated frequency card displayed AND you must power on your ground station or goggles on the corresponding channel to verify no one is broadcasting on your frequency. If you do not have this lanyard, do not turn your transmitter on! We reserve the right to ban offending pilots from the flight line at our discretion. Don't be "that guy" and ruin someone's day!
Pilot Slots - During controlled times, we will be using a digital sign up system for pilot slots. If you have not used this before, we will explain at sign in. Please check this schedule often to know when your name is coming up on the list. Flying times will be limited to 20 minutes for each session. You are expected to turn over your frequency to the next pilot at 20 minutes, not begin flying back. We will try to make announcements as much as possible to help with this.
No Fly Zones - A map of the area with no fly zones listed (ex. car dealership and over the town) will be handed out at sign in. Please review this before flying and know where you are heading to avoid these areas. More details will be provided on the handout.
Night Flying - Bring your LOS or FPV night flyers! This is one of the most fun activities at any RC event and FPV Fest is no exception!
Multirotor Racing - FPV announcer extraordinaire, Joe Scully makes his epic return to RMRC FPV Fest 2017!
Sign-ups - We will begin race sign-ups on Saturday morning with MultiGP. We may run organized practice before the event as well.
Frequencies - Assignments will be made by MultiGP. If you do not have a profile already, you will need to sign up. All multirotor racing will use the 200mw 5.8Ghz race band system without exception. Personal transmitters are allowed, but they must be capable of Race Band and a maximum of 200mw. Please bring both RHCP and LHCP antennas. To allow 900MHz Video, RC control will only be allowed on 2.4GHz and 433MHz. (TBS Crossfire is allowed, but you will also need the 900 tag)
Classes - We will have 2 classes available for multirotor racing. We would love to have more, but this event is more than just racing and time is limited. It is intended to be a fun event with some nice prizes. No whining allowed!
- Open 5": Any multirotor with 5" props or less. 4s Power.
- Beginner: Any multirotor regardless of cells or props. (Cannot sign up for both)
Racing - We plan to begin qualifying around 7PM. This means that we may finish late depending on the number of entries. Like last year, gates will be illuminated with LEDs and portable stadium lights will also help illuminate the course. We will also be running AAA Mains to determine our winner!
LEDs - Since we intend on doing night racing with multirotors, we will require LEDs to be installed. You can choose how to install them and how many, but they become very difficult to find in the grass without them. It also makes spectating much more interesting! 3M reflective tape patches on multiple surfaces can help find your quad quickly with flashlights if you lose power.
Transponders - Transponders are soooo pre-2016... No transponders required! :)
Prizes - TBA
Fixed Wing Racing
Sign Ups - We will begin sign-ups on Thursday and qualifiers will take place Friday morning at 8am. Finals will be Saturday at 8am.
Frequencies - All of the main frequencies will be available for the fixed wing race. Because of this, free flight will not be allowed during this time. To allow 900MHz video, RC control will only be allowed on 2.4GHz and 433MHz. (TBS Crossfire is allowed, but you will also need the 900 tag)
Classes - We will have 2 classes available for fixed wing racing. We would love to have more, but this event is more than just racing and time is limited. It is intended to be a fun event with some nice prizes. No whining allowed!
- Open: Any fixed wing aircraft
- FPVWRA Spec
Prizes - TBA
The purpose of this fly-in is for folks to be able to hang out and enjoy some fun FPV together, make some new friends, and learn a little at the same time. Please do your part and keep it fun and drama free! :)
