The 3DR Location One GPS w/ Compass and Barometer is an advanced, multi-constellation GNSS module built around the powerful u-blox M9N chip. Far more than just a reference design, the Location One has been meticulously engineered to provide maximum RF performance. By precisely tuning the 50x50mm ground plane and strategically isolating the GPS engine's ground from the rest of the PCB, 3DR has squeezed out approximately 15% more performance, ensuring rapid, reliable satellite acquisition even in challenging environments.

Powered by ArduPilot's AP_Periph DroneCAN firmware, the Location One transmits all of its sensor data over a robust, noise-tolerant two-wire CAN bus, minimizing wiring clutter and increasing reliability. In addition to the M9N GNSS, it features a highly accurate RM3100 magnetometer with a physical protection cover for its sensitive Z-axis coil, and an integrated DPS368 barometer. The latest revision also includes robust TVS diode input protection across all voltage rails and an upgraded backup battery that retains full capacity through multiple charge cycles, offering up to one month of warm-start retention.
